Khonds Uprising
- Khonds belong to hilly tracts extending from Odisha to the Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam districts of Andhra Pradesh.
- They revolted against the suppression of human sacrifice (their ritual), new taxes, and the entry of zamindars into their areas.
- Chakra Bisoi, a young raja, led the Khonds who were joined by the Ghumsar, Kalahandi and other tribes.
- With Chakra Bisoi’s disappearance, the uprising came to an end.
